Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces

Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces
exact on 12th April 2022 at 13:22 UT (14:22 BST)

In the first week of March, Jupiter began its approach to its exact conjunction with Neptune in Pisces on 12thApril; after then Jupiter will slowly move away from Neptune, going  “out of orb” on 10th May, when it enters Aries.

Jupiter and Neptune are both said to rule the sign of Pisces; Jupiter was considered the traditional ruler before Neptune’s discovery in 1846. Both planets are concerned with taking us beyond known boundaries, dissolving barriers, and reaching out to explore the unknown. Jupiter is concerned with how this process functions at the level of the creative mind, stimulating the imagination to take us beyond what is already known by the rational mind and the senses. Neptune does a similar thing, but at the level of the spirit, enabling us to go beyond our human personality and ego-self, so that we may come to understand that we are one with all that is.

On 28th July Jupiter will go retrograde, then re-enter Pisces on 28th October, returning to within 6º of conjunction with Neptune again on 23rd November;  then Jupiter turns direct to move away from Neptune and re-enters Aries on 20th Dec, just before Winter Solstice on 21st.  The next conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune will occur in Aries in March 2035. The last time they were conjunct in Pisces was 166 years ago in March 1856.

This conjunction in the last degrees (28º 58’) of Pisces, marks one of the pivotal points for the ending of the Age of Pisces. We are being called collectively to move beyond our accustomed belief patterns, beyond identification with our ego-selves, beyond our sense of personal, political and national identity, in order to fully open our hearts and embrace the knowing and feeling that we all share a common humanity and that that we are all simply just brothers and sisters. The great spiritual teachers of the last 2,000 years have taught about unconditional love as an expression of our Oneness and as the highest aspiration for the last 2,000 years of the Piscean Age. This conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune, coming at the end of Pisces may be seen as an indicator (or gauge) of how well we are collectively doing with the whole Age of Pisces unconditional love and universal compassion thing.

We may use this time as an opportunity to manifest the highest possible expressions of love, compassion and selflessness towards our fellow beings; or else we may choose to use it for escapism or to weave a web of illusion, denial, half-truths, deceptions and lies. Jupiter, in its essence is concerned with Truth, but it can also become concerned with exaggeration, political spin and self-aggrandisement; Neptune in its essence is concerned with letting go and surrendering into the Oneness, or it can also be concerned with the perpetuation of illusion or becoming lost in the fantasy and delusion of imagined realities, or indeed doing anything to avoid facing reality.

Jupiter and Neptune are part of a “Megaphone” figure, comprising the opposition between the Moon’s North and South Nodes in Taurus and Scorpio; there is a (120º) trine from the South Node to Jupiter and Neptune, which are (60º) sextile to the North Node. Also, a (150º) quincunx from the South Node to the Sun conjunct Pallas Athene in Aries, with (30º) semi-sextiles from  these to the North Node and Jupiter-Neptune.

As well as allowing the imagination to soar to its limits, it is essential at this time to employ a high degree of discernment and absolute honesty, in order to manifest the most positive qualities of Jupiter and Neptune. The need for discernment stems from the exact conjunction between the Sun and asteroid Pallas Athene in Aries, which are about shining the light (Sun) of truth (Pallas) onto unfolding events, whilst taking into account the often emotionally charged history of certain situations (S. Node in Scorpio), in order to be able to move forward in constructive, sensitive, and realistic ways (N. Node in Taurus).

The South Node in Scorpio means that, for anything to truly shift, it is essential to acknowledge and address the hurts or wounds of the past. What may at first appear as an apparently small concern, rooted in the past of any situation, can very easily turn into a loud, all-pervading issue, with the danger of things escalating quickly out of control, particularly if those concerns are ignored, misunderstood or diminished. The self-awareness embodied by the green (150º) quincunx aspect from the South Node to the Sun and Pallas Athene is what keeps any situation from running away with itself. These aspects require us to face up to the truths of the past, and to sensitively apply our intelligence so that we may change our perspective, so as to arrive at new solutions for finding ways forward.

Merged in with the “Megaphone” figure is a “Surfer” figure: this too has the (120º) trine from the South Node to Jupiter and Neptune and the (150º) quincunx to Sun and Pallas Athene; there is also a (90º) square (part of a larger T-square) from the South Node to a conjunction of Saturn, Juno and Mars in Aquarius.

The red (90º) square aspect from the South Node to Saturn, Juno and Mars in Aquarius provides the dynamic energy of this figure. It  challenges us to look, from a detached perspective, at all the shadow qualities that have accumulated from past failures, from times when we have not been in right relationship, or not respected or honoured the viewpoints of others, with the resultant feelings of frustration, resentment, anger or aggression. As with the “Megaphone” pattern above, the best way to approach this is through the application of intelligence, discernment and honesty, tempered by compassion and a genuine openness towards the viewpoints of others.

A T-square, formed by the opposition between the Moon’s South and North Nodes, which are (90º) square to the conjunction of Saturn, Juno and Mars in Aquarius.

Without the application of these qualities of intelligence, discernment, honesty and compassion, the tension created by the T-square is likely to perpetuate the hurts of the past as an excuse to point the finger or react aggressively to what are highly complex situations with long, involved histories; the powerful presence of the Moon, feeding into this figure, can amplify these feelings making them feel highly personal.

The Moon is in opposition to Saturn conjunct Juno and Mars, which are (60º) sextile to the Sun conjunct Pallas Athene, which are (120º) trine back to the Moon. The Moon is also (150º) quincunx Pluto in Capricorn, which is (30º) semi-sextile back to Juno and Mars.

The highly sensitive Moon in Leo can get triggered by situations where s/he does not feel respected or acknowledged. Whilst on the one hand, there may be a willingness or attempt to see things from a reasoned, detached perspective, on the other hand, the mind and emotions will react strongly if they feel that their power is being undermined, disrespected or thwarted. The Moon in Leo may tend to exaggerate or over-dramatise, so this reaction may be out of proportion to what the situation actually requires and may end up being more about saving face than actually doing anything to resolve the conflict. The key here lies with Mercury, which is widely conjunct (10º) with the Sun and part of a Learning figure with Pluto and the Moon.

A Learning figure has a (90º) square from Mercury in Taurus to Pluto in Capricorn, which is quincunx (150º) the Moon in Leo, which is (120º) trine back to Mercury.

This figure is about trusting in good old common sense to find practical ways of confronting those who seek to misuse or abuse their positions of power in the world. This applies to situations where others may be inadvertently or unintentionally abusing positions of power, which is having a negative, knock-on effect on the lives of others, as well as situations where people are deliberately and actively abusing their power in order to undermine or disempower others. It is important to recognise that each of these situations requires a different and proportional type of response.

A Small Learning figure has Vesta in Aquarius (90º) square Uranus in Taurus, which is (30º) semi-sextile to Chiron in Aries, which is (60º) sextile back to Vesta. There are also (120º) trines from Ceres to Vesta and nearby (but not quite conjunct) Saturn.

Whilst the heart may be longing to resolve the volatile situations that now prevail, these situations can only be truly resolved by honestly confronting the wounds of the past, so as to bring about real healing. If these wounds are simply glossed over, or buried without addressing the core issues, then the whole situation will just erupt again at a later date. Great Mother Ceres can bring her soothing balm to many situations if we are willing to step aside from our own beliefs and entrenched positions, to adopt a perspective that may at first appear to be quite foreign to us, but can actually bring insight, understanding and solutions that we could not otherwise have anticipated or achieved.

The beauty of the Jupiter-Neptune conjunction is that the more we are willing to surrender, open our hearts, forgive and let go, the more opportunities we will be given to surrender, open our hearts, forgive and let go and the positive effects of this will be amplified by the loving support of Mother Earth (Ceres) and the insight and wisdom of Father Sky (Uranus).

For All Our Relations

Suggested Meditation for the Jupiter – Neptune conjunction

As Jupiter and Neptune are effectively conjunct for several days, this meditation may be done anytime (or even several times) on the 11th, 12th or 13th April.

Breathe in the golden light of the Sun and hold it in your heart, then breathe it out and down through your body, into the Earth. Repeat three times until you feel your whole body becoming suffused with golden light.

Move your attention up to your Brow / Third Eye centre and breathe in the light of Jupiter, focussing it as a bright light into the tiny pineal gland, tucked in at the centre of the brain, level with the brow.

Breathe it in, and as you breathe out see the pineal shining like a tiny jewel of light radiating into your brain and central nervous system. Repeat three times.

Turn your attention upwards to the Soul Star centre, above the Crown centre at the top of your head. Imagine a large sphere of the deep blue light of Neptune gently turning on its axis. Breathe this in and as you breathe out see and feel the blue light and unconditional love of Neptune cascading down, around and through your body, and into the Earth below.

Breathe in to fill the Soul Star with Neptune’s unconditional love, and breathe it out to flow in and around your body and into the Earth. Then breathe in at the Earth Star beneath your feet and breathe out to send that unconditional love through the Earth energy grids and into the hearts and minds of all beings.

Repeat for as long as you wish.

At the end, bring your focus back into your heart, reach down to the Earth to draw up a cloak of gold and emerald-green light and wrap it around your entire body. When you’re ready open your eyes and drink some water.
